
Guram Muradov is a photographer and visual storyteller from Tbilisi, Georgia. Born in 1986, he began photographing as a teenager and has worked professionally since 2005 as a photographer for the United Nations Association of Georgia and its media platform, Civil.ge. Over the years, he has documented political movements, protests, and social events across Georgia, as well as projects focused on women’s rights, cultural identity, and community life.
His work has been published in The Guardian (Photos of the Week) 2023, Al Jazeera, Reuters (Photo of the Day), and National Geographic Georgia (2015), and exhibited in solo and group shows including Under the White Moon of March: Chronicles of Protest (Tbilisi Photography and Multimedia Museum, 2023), FACES (Creative Collective Spectrum, 2022), Year in Review and Flood in Tbilisi (Tbilisi Photo Festival, 2013), Senior Friend and Photo-Poetry Event (‘12 Women, 12 Photos, 12 Poems’, 2012), and National Integration and Tolerance in Georgia (UN Association of Georgia, 2006).
In 2018, Muradov published WOMEN, a photo book created in collaboration with USAID and the UN Association of Georgia, featuring portraits and stories of women from different regions of the country.
From 2013 to 2015, he worked as an Editor-in-Chief of Photoessay Online magazine, and between 2009 and 2018 worked as an editorial photographer for ‘Beaumonde’ and ‘Hello Georgia’ magazines. He has led photography workshops and masterclasses for students and young photographers, including programs at the Georgian American University (GAU) and the local Georgian NGO SEED.
In 2023, Muradov was selected for the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), representing Georgia among other Georgian media professionals.
Currently based in New York City, Guram continues his studies in the Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism Program at the International Center of Photography (ICP). He is working on two parallel long-term projects: ‘Occupied Silence’ (The Bench Series), ongoing since 2016 and exploring quiet places in public environment, and ‘My Sweet Emilio, a documentary photo-book of New York’s drag scene and creative activism.
